Call a program from anywhere in Windows XP without 3rd party software

As the title, i don't want to mention about Windows Vista or Windows 7. In Windows Vista (or 7), Microsoft added a search bar in Start Menu, that let us search any installed program on my computer:
Example: i typed in "Internet" and you see the results.

It's so simple but that search bar doesn't exist in Windows XP.
I have another way that's also simple to do it in Windows XP:

Step1:

Create a shortcut to your program that you want to call (in my example, it's firefox). After that, cut this shortcut and paste it to C:\Windows\ (C:\ is the drive that Windows installed on):

Step2:

Rename the shortcut to something that you want: "firefox", "ff" ..... This name will help you call the program more easily.
From now on, each time you want to call firefox, just press: windows key + R to open Run Dialog, type in "firefox" or "ff"... and press enter

Of course, you can create 2 or more shortcut to only 1 program an put them in Windows folder, that make you more option to call that program.

It's only small trick. If you have any idea, please comment :)
